Summer Danish – part of the Cultural Agreements

At the moment CIP is hosting a Danish language and culture course for 18 international students that are all Danish language students at their home universities. It is the second year in a row that CIP has been selected to run this type of course as part of the Cultural Agreements programme administered by the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education.

The course participants that all come from one of the 41 countries covered by the Cultural Agreement framework all master Danish at a high level.

The course that runs from 6 Aug to 24 Aug consists of 60 lessons in all held over 3 weeks. In addition to the language lessons, the course also has a culture programme consisting of invited talks, cycling trips, a Copenhagen canal tour as well as visits to museums, exhibits, theater shows and a “kaffe og kage” visit at a Danish private home.

In the second week of the course, the regional news channel TV2 Lorry stopped by to a little quirky story about the courses. The angle in the little news segment is to look at why our student have chosen to study a relatively “small” language. For some it is about interest for other a question of preparing for a job. In the clip from 15 Aug you can see - and not least - hear how good the students are at speaking Danish. The clip is found on TV2 lorry’s website (in Danish).

The course is taught by Anja Kobbernagel Krusbæk and Marie Moestrup Lundsager. Academic Language consultant at CIP Karen-Margrete Frederiksen has consulted on development of materials for the course. If you would like to know more about the course, please contact CIP at cip@hum.ku.dk.
