CIP-seminar: Language Assessment and Migration

The CIP seminar series is an open forum for presentation and discussion of research related to language and internationalisation.

The series features presentations from employees at CIP as well as invited speakers.

At the upcoming seminar, Paola Masillo from the CILS Centre - University for Foreigners of Siena  will present an overview of the main activities carried out by the CILS Centre with the title "Language Assessment and Migration: Research Insights from the Italian Context".

Abstract

This presentation will provide an overview of the main activities carried out by the CILS Centre at the University for Foreigners of Siena, one of the four official examination bodies for Italian as a foreign language in Italy.

It will highlight key research lines in the field of language assessment within migration and multilingual contexts, with a particular focus on the Italian case. The main areas of investigation include language testing for long-term residence permits, assessment practices for low-literate or nonliterate adult learners, and language assessment for applicants seeking Italian citizenship.

The presentation will also outline teacher training and monitoring initiatives developed in collaboration with the CLIQ Association, the consortium of Italian language examination bodies.

Practical information

The presentation will be in English but questions in both English and Danish are welcome.

Registration to the CIP-seminar is not needed but there will be a limited number of seats available.
