Join our free English collocations workshop and advance your vocabulary and communication skills.
This is the workshop you need without knowing you need it!
Have you ever wondered why we say strictly forbidden and not strongly forbidden; strongly advise but not strictly advise? Or why we can talk about fast cars and fast food, but we have a quick glance or a quick meal? The answer is collocations: words that go together, word partnerships - or word buddies, if you like!
Why you should attend this workshop:
Have you struggled to translate Danish phrases like styrke dine kompetencer, holde din ferie or dybt uenig into English? Is it really as easy as strengthen your competences, hold your holiday and deeply disagree? No, it isn’t! You need to know which words ‘hang out’ with which other words, what linguists call ‘lexico-grammar’, a kind of mix between vocabulary and grammar.
But how do you find out which words ‘go together’?
This intensive two-hour workshop is designed to raise your awareness about English collocations: pairs of words that occur regularly together. If you are unfamiliar with collocations, you risk using the wrong word combinations, which may result in less precise language or even misunderstandings. Acquiring collocations is therefore an integral part of acquiring proficiency in English, enabling you to improve your fluency and to express ideas more precisely and naturally.
This workshop will give you the insight and tools to enable you to create word combinations that just feel right!
