Visit from Fudan University

On 7-8 May 2018, CIP had visitors from the Fudan University (Shanghai)

The two days were spend exchanging experiences and knowledge across different contexts.

CIP’s director of centre, Anne Holmen, hosted the event. She describes the outcome of the seminars in this way: “I was surprised in a positive way to find that there was so many points of similarity in experiences with EMI, with implementing a more pluralistic language policy and in the view on internationalisation – despite the great differences in national and institutional context. We are used to great differences between Northern Europe and Southern Europe, and the Anglophone and the non-Anglophone world in conceptualisation, expectations and focus points. I expected the same great difference, but found out that we in many ways spoke the same academic language.”

Thank you very much for the visit and thank you for a couple of educational and interesting days to Yongyan Zheng, PhD, Professor of Applied Linguistics (Assistant to the Dean), Jing Ai, Deputy Director of the Multilingual Learning Center og Yang Song, PhD, Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics alle fra College of Foreign Languages and Literature, Fudan University.
