New podcast episode about language use at meetings at the university
The second episode of CIP’s podcast Language Use at UCPH has just been published, and it is about language choice and language use in relation to meetings.
Katja Årosin talks to three guests about how we decide which languages to use at meetings. How does language choice affect our understanding and contribution at meetings? And how do we make sure that language choice leads to inclusion rather than exclusion?
We hear that there are differences in the way we talk about language use and make decisions about language choice across the university. We talk about the vulnerability and feeling of exclusion that can sometimes occur in situations where we communicate in a second/foreign language. We hear how a unit at UCPH has created a local language policy, and we get some good advice on how to create a well-functioning language practice.
The episode is in English, and you can find it at the UCPH site for podcasts: Sprogbrug på KU – Københavns Universitet
