Enhancing Danish skills can contribute to better inclusion for international staff
CIP offers a free Danish workshop every semester for international staff. This initiative is part of CIP’s work to implement UCPH’s language policy. In this way, CIP aims to enhance international employees’ skills, network, and inclusion at UCPH by helping them use Danish more actively in their daily work.
In January 2026, CIP introduces a new workshop: Describe your work and research in Danish, inviting all international UCPH staff with some knowledge of Danish to participate.
In the workshop, you will practice talking about your work tasks and activities as well as your research, so you can explain, elaborate, and provide concrete examples of your work to different audiences in Danish.
From the international staff we know that improving Danish language skills makes it easier to manage everyday interactions. At the same time, it helps build up connections with colleagues, students, and the wider University of Copenhagen community. Proficiency in Danish can further contribute to greater inclusion, the development of social networks, and improved overall well-being. Find UCPH report her.
Participants are particularly satisfied with practicing Danish in a safe atmosphere on the workshops:
“Good opportunity to practice your Danish without pressure in a nice atmosphere so I can become more confident speaking Danish at work.”
