Practical information about courses at CIP

CIP offers language courses for staff and students at the University of Copenhagen and for partners outside the University. All CIP’s courses attract a fee and are based on a language needs analysis so that the course is tailored to the individual participants' needs and wants.

As a rule, we do not teach outside working hours, i.e. evenings, weekends and holidays or days when UCPH is closed. You can read more about our terms and conditions for the individual courses below and in the current general terms and conditions, which you can find in the right-hand box.

Courses for staff at UCPH

As an employee at UCPH, you can either register for one of our scheduled courses via the course catalogue on KUnet or we can give you an offer for a tailor-made course, either a one-to-one course or for a group of colleagues from the same section or department.

Please note that CIP's courses attract a fee, and you therefore need approval from your manager before you can register.

Our prices follow the current pricing policy at UCPH and are adjusted to follow changes in salaries and prices (latest prices as per 1 September 2024).

Terms and conditions for registering for and cancelling scheduled courses

There is a specific deadline for registering for scheduled courses. After the deadline has expired, we evaluate whether there are enough participants to run the course and then notify you directly whether the course will run or has to be rescheduled.

Your registration is binding from the date of the registration deadline, after which the course fee cannot be refunded. If you are unable to attend due to illness etc., you are welcome to give your place to a colleague instead.

If a scheduled course cannot run, you will be contacted when the course has been rescheduled. If the course is rescheduled at a time that does not suit you, you have the right to withdraw your registration.

Terms and conditions for registering for and cancelling tailor-made courses

For tailor-made courses, times and dates will be agreed directly between you and the teacher. Unless otherwise agreed, tailor-made courses must be completed within six months of the commencement of the course.

As a rule, a tailor-made course may be cancelled free of charge no later than 30 days before the first lesson. After this date, a cancellation fee will be charged.

Cancellation of a planned class due to illness etc. must be notified directly to the teacher and to cip@hum.ku.dk no later than 12:00 on the day before the class was due to take place. If the class is cancelled later than this, that session will be forfeited.

See more details in our current terms and conditions for courses for employees at UCPH.

Courses for students at UCPH

CIP offers several ECTS credit-bearing elective courses, which students can register for in accordance with the normal deadlines via the self-service system. The terms and conditions for registering for and withdrawing from ECTS credit-bearing courses are in accordance with UCPH's guidelines.

You can read more about the courses offered in our list of courses for students and in the list of current courses at UCPH: kurser.ku.dk.

In addition, CIP can put together tailor-made courses for students.  These must be agreed directly with the individual department or study programme, including agreements on the terms and conditions for completion and payment.

Courses for partners outside UCPH

CIP also develops and runs language courses for partners outside UCPH.

These are usually other educational institutions or public organisations who are interested in the language courses CIP can offer.

Based on a detailed needs analysis of the partner’s needs and wants, CIP will send an offer which also includes the terms and conditions for holding courses for external partners. As a rule, a tailor-made course may be cancelled free of charge no later than 30 days before the date of commencement. After this date, a cancellation fee will be charged (for more details, see our current terms and conditions for courses outside UCPH).
