Pre-semester course for international students:
Copenhagen Past & Present w/ Danish language

From 6 - 24 January 2025, Danish Culture Courses will be offering the next pre-semester course Copenhagen Past & Present w/ Danish language, aimed at international exchange students who are taking part of their degree programme at UCPH. CIP is contributing with an intensive course in Danish at beginner's level over the three weeks.

The target group for the pre-semester course is you, who are starting at UCPH as international exchange students in February or September each year. Before starting your studies, you now have the opportunity to learn more about Danish culture and history while earning ECTS credits – and to learn basic Danish idioms and expressions that can make your study start at UCPH a little easier, while at the same time giving you greater insight into Danish society.

Course format

The pre-semester course consists of 20 lectures on Danish history and culture, along with 27 Danish lessons. The course runs for 3 weeks before semester start and has a 48-hour written history exam, during the last weekend. There is no Danish examination.

The lectures are given in English, while the Danish classes will be a combination of Danish and English.

Course content Danish lessons

You will have 6-8 Danish lessons each week, plus self study lessons and preparation. During the three weeks, you will learn to introduce yourself in Danish, describe where you live, and be able to order food and drink in Danish.
