The Consortium was established in 2013 and focuses on language and the didactics of language studies, which is founded in the need to strengthen the language teaching in primary and lower secondary school.

The DASTEN network strives to promote the understanding of theoretical principles of language testing and assessment of different languages, and the improvement and sharing of testing and assessment practices throughout Denmark.

CIP has been an institutional member of EALTA, the European Association of Language Testing and Assessment, since 2012. CIP was granted the EALTA institutional membership because of its expertise and active engagement in research, training, and development in the area of language testing and assessment. CIP is the home of the TOEPAS (Test of Oral Proficiency for Academic Staff), which was designed by associate professor Joyce Kling and associate professor Slobodanka Dimova (EALTA Expert member) for the purpose of university lecturers’ certification for oral English proficiency needed to teach in English medium instruction (EMI) courses and programs.

LUNAS is a Nordplus language supported network, which focuses on the role of language in academic settings in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
